When it came to potions class, Andromeda usually did quite well. She wasn't as good at potions as she was at charms, but still held it in her head that potions were equally as important. Although she received rather grades in potions class most of the time, it wasn't like she didn't have to do any work for it. Potions, initially, had seemed easy enough: get the proper ingredients and get the proper amount of each. But there was much more to it than that-- the ingredient needed to be measured cautiously because one could only err so much before the potion became obsolete, poisonous, or something the brewer hadn't been intending on making. Also, one had to stir the concoction a specific number of times at a certain speed and in a certain direction that differed with every lesson. There were times when it wasn't even as straightforward as that where she had to pay attention to the colour, viscosity, and texture of the potion at hand to know when to put what ingredient and how much of it. In her first year, she had figured out quickly that making a potion was nothing like making a cake, so she spent her time in class wisely, listening to Professor Slughorn explain the process and asking questions if there was something she missed. When it came to school, she was serious. Her parents never quite cared for education in a profound way, but Andromeda felt that it was one of the qualities about her that she didn't need to hide.
Today, Andromeda came out of the dungeons, giggling to herself uncontrollably. One of the reasons Andromeda liked potions was Professor Slughorn. He might have been slightly lazy and he did chose favourites in his profession, but he was nothing less than entertaining and at times, quite fun. He did have a curriculum to follow, but there were days, like today, where he disagreed with the material and showed the class how to make unique and vastly interesting brews instead. This afternoon, he had taught the sixth years how to make beautification potions. Needless to say all the women in the class were intrigued (Andromeda being one of them) but terrified when he announced that they would be testing the liquid out on themselves. At least, Andromeda thought, he didn't ask us to test them on each other... She could only imagine what would happen if she drank something made at the hands of somone... less competent. The ingredients, although fascinating, were mostly disgusting, but in the end, the potion was a thick pink substance with a pearly sheen that smelled vaguely of roses and what Andromeda thought was cosmetics. She had made it correctly and the only hesitance that came from taking a small spoonful of the potion in front of Slughorn was from the ingredients used. Slughorn explained that the potion would enhance the best features of the drinker, but Andromeda took a very small amount, just enough to show her instructor that the potion was done correctly.
As soon as she had done this, Slughorn broke into a grand smile and chortled, "Brilliant, my dear girl, that's brilliant! Your eyes could light up the night sky!" Andromeda blushed heavily, pleased that she had got it right, and thankfully, about three quarters of the class had managed to brew it too, but for those who failed to do so, the results were disastrous... Her fellow classmates had turned into everything from a hag to a bright green baboon, and it took every fibre of her being to stop herself from laughing at their embarrassment until she stepped out of the classroom. Chuckling to herself at the thought of one of the Slytherin boys spouting a hot jet of bogeys onto Professor Slughorn's robes, she took a small hand mirror from her pocket, curious to see the results of the potion. She didn't want to ingest enough to transform her appearance, as she believed that she should be appreciated for what was given to her by birth, but Slughorn was right. Her eyes were slightly lighter and contained a jovial glow that she wished was constantly there. She hoped that she would never be tempted to use a beautification potion in the future... Resenting herself now for the way she looked without the potion, she sighed and lowered her mirror, hoping no one would be too shocked.

Sitting in a corner all alone,Staring from the bottom of his soulWatching the night come in from the window, windowIt'll all collapse tonight, the fullmoon is here againIn sickness and in health, understanding so demanding--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For some odd reason Remus found himself wandering the halls of the dungeons. He didn't quite know where he was going, but he'd felt uneasy and wanted to go for a walk. He had a free period this period and hadn't had a class to occupy himself with. Oh he was strange like that, because he was one of those kids who would much rather have class to occupy himself with than to have a free period. It was one of his quirks. Mainly his reasoning behind this was that he didn't like having too much time to think about himself. Or rather he often would seek out a place to be alone but usually it was with a book in his hand. Oh he would often forget about said book and let his mind wander but that was besides the point. At this place in time he just felt like he'd wanted somewhere quiet to wander around in, and the dungeons wouldn't be the first place his fellow Marauders would come looking for him.
Oh sure, Remus didn't mind at all that his friends tended to seek him our and try to cheer him up when he wasn't too happy. However, sometimes a person just wanted to be alone right? Suddenly his stomach made a loud rumble, reminding him that he hadn't eaten much of anything today and that he hadn't really had much the previous day either. The closer the full moon got the less appetite he tended to have. He sighed and turned to walk toward the kitchens. The house elves there would surely give him some food if he asked nicely. He was actually quite a frequent visitor down there. He liked their company and the fact that it always smelled nice down there. He was so lost however in his thoughts that he didn't see Andromeda standing there in the hallway, not too far from the potions classroom.
He found himself crashing right into someone and let out a small yelp, loosing his balance for the time being and went crashing onto the floor, hitting his backside rather painfully against the stone that the floor happened to be made of. He let out another small pained noise as he realized he'd actually hurt himself a little and sighed heavily before he suddenly realized he might have hurt the other person too. "oh I'm so sorry! I hope I didn't hurt you! I was just not paying attention to where I was headed!" he sounded as sorry as he said he was, and he still hadn't looked up to see who he'd bumped into because he had dropped his book, and his bag of candy, which seemed to have ended up all over the floor and he was very busy trying to gather it all back up into the bag and then to grab the book and scramble to his feet. Oh he was such a spazz sometimes and now was definitely one of those times he wished he could sink into the floor and vanish.
Then another thought hit him, what if this person he'd walked into was one of the more nasty Slytherins? They'd kill him, after all he and his friends were rather known for being a bother around the school, especially to Slytherins and he really didn't feel like being hexed today. He bit his lip and took a deep breath, trying to figure out how he'd talk himself out of being hexed if it had indeed been one of those Slytherin. "I really am sorry, I hope you'll forgive me, I just didn't see you as I headed around the corner, I should really watch where I'm going more carefully and not cut the corners so sharply." He added, his voice sounding indeed very sorry and almost a little worried? Yes there was definitely a hint of worry in his voice if whoever it was listened carefully enough.

No sooner had Andromeda lowered her mirror when a heavy, blunt force painfully knocked her off her feet. Andromeda never really fell too often, she wasn't terribly clumsy, thanks to her mother, but she did have good reflexes. Luckily, with the fastest thinking she'd ever had to do in her life, she broke her fall with her hands. She remained on the cold dungeon floor for a little while, her wrists absolutely smart with pain, but had her hands not stopper her, she would have fallen and surely hurt her face. She was a little stunned by what had just happened, but narrowed her dark eyes into a sharp, irritated glare. Thinking that it had been Bellatrix or one of the other members of Slytherin who despised her, she lifted her gaze from the ground to the face of Remus Lupin, who seemed to be in much more pain that she was. It appeared as though he had fallen and landed-- rather hard-- on his backside and was grimacing with such an expression that Andromeda was scared that something had happened to him.
"Oh I'm so sorry! I hope I didn't hurt you! I was just not paying attention to where I was headed!"
She took a moment to take in the scene. Her book bag had been knocked about a metre away from her and his book had fallen to the floor along with what seemed like dozens upon dozens of pieces of sweets that speckled the bleak dungeon floor with colour. Her expression fell and her eyes became soft again as she opened her mouth to tell him that it was surely him who must have been in more pain than her, but he began again almost desperately:
"I really am sorry, I hope you'll forgive me, I just didn't see you as I headed around the corner, I should really watch where I'm going more carefully and not cut the corners so sharply."
"Remus," began Andromeda, firmly enough so that he would recognize her voice, but gently enough not to give him reason to believe that she had taken any offence, "There's no need to beg my forgiveness," she smiled, rubbing her wrists, flushing slightly, "It's quite alright, I shouldn't have been standing where I was anyway--" She cut herself off, watching him trying to pick the sweets up and place them back in their originating bag. "Allow me," she waved her wand and all the candy that was on the floor spiraled in the air and landed swiftly inside the bag. Charms were her specialty. Looking at him kindly and bemusedly, she added, "I should be the one apologizing." She slowly blinked and ran her fingers through a curl in her hair. Her wrists were still a tad bit sore.

Sitting in a corner all alone,Staring from the bottom of his soulWatching the night come in from the window, windowIt'll all collapse tonight, the fullmoon is here againIn sickness and in health, understanding so demanding--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- He was still frantically trying to pick up his candy, not daring to look at whoever it was he had bumped into when he heard a familiar voice speak his name and he immediately looked up to meet her eyes. He was so relieved that she didn't look hurt or even angry that a wide smile crossed his face for a moment before he once more continued trying to pick up the pieces of his candy. He almost jumped a little as the candy somehow floated themselves into his bag once more. He looked around to see that not a single piece was now left on the floor and gratefully got to his feet wincing a little as he did, his tailbone having hit the floor rather hard as he'd landed and it was definitely quite painful. Oh no, you shouldn't be apologizing, I was the one who wasn't paying attention to where I was looking. I didn't hurt you did I?" he asked softly, sending her a tiny smile.
"oh and thanks for getting my candy off the floor... I didn't want it to go to waste, I'll use a cleaning spell on them later to get rid of any dirt of germs that may have gotten on then from the floor. Oh wait... what happened to your eyes?! They're... gorgeous! Not that they weren't already of course, but something seems different with them?" he asked, yes he was rambling, it was something he sort of tended to do when he was nervous or when he felt he had done something wrong. He wasn't the most confident boy ever, which was a little strange considering the friends he'd chosen, but then again there were more reasons for that friendship than just the fact that they fit well together. Oh they did, because even though he was most of the time a pretty good boy who didn't tend to try to get himself into trouble, he had a bit of a jokester streak in him as well. He secretly enjoyed a lot of the pranks the group tended to pull, with the exceptions of the mean ones that were sometimes pulled on Severus Snape.
He ran a hand through his hair. "Are you sure I didn't hurt you?!" he asked worriedly, he really didn't want to hurt anyone, ever. It was one of his major fears that some day he'd end up hurting someone, especially if that someone got hurt during a full moon. Oh how that scared him. The idea of bringing this onto someone else, well it would just be the worst thing to happen ever. He wouldn't ever get over that, he'd just feel so guilty. The thought made a frown appear on his face for a second before he once more forced himself to give her a warm smile. "What were you doing anyway? Standing here I mean? Most people go straight up from here once classes are over?" he asked, mainly to have something other to talk about than the fact that he'd just knocked her over in a rather rude fashion.

Andromeda smiled and shook her head no. Remus was probably the last person she could think of who would hurt anyone intentionally, and although her wrists were slightly sore, she wasn't about to blame him for it. People bumped into each other constantly and it certainly wasn't the end of the world, nor was Andromeda going to treat the situation that way. She could only imagine the reaction of her sisters, Narcissa and Bellatrix on the other hand... Bellatrix would have found a way to hex the pants off of him and Narcissa would have stared daggers into his soul and said some things that weren't exactly the kindest words she could think of. But Andromeda was different. Her ego was less inflated and she saw no reason to harm those who didn't mean harm against her (she didn't even see a reason in harming those who harmed her in the first place). Still, both her sisters would have had something to say to her would they have seen the way she spoke to Remus. They would have told her that he wasn't worthy, but in Andromeda's eyes, Remus was just as worthy as anyone else.
"Thanks for getting my candy off the floor... I didn't want it to go to waste, I'll use a cleaning spell on them later to get rid of any dirt of germs that may have gotten on then from the floor. Oh wait... what happened to your eyes?! They're... gorgeous! Not that they weren't already of course, but something seems different with them?" When Remus had asked her what had happened to her eyes, she feared for a second that they had been injured or that there was something repulsive present, but her expression turned from concern to slightly flustered once she remembered the beautification potion. She couldn't help but blush a little at his exclamation, "Thank you!" she laughed, but before she could explain, he continued:
" Are you sure I didn't hurt you?! What were you doing anyway? Standing here I mean? Most people go straight up from here once classes are over?"
Andromeda was taken aback by his sudden outburst, asking her if she was hurt once more. She hoped he was alright... She noticed how disturbed he looked at the thought and became a little concerned. "My goodness, no..." she said as gently as she could, "Please don't be upset, I'm not angry with you. Why, you couldn't hurt a fly!" She tried to say it as comfortingly as she could and felt a little better when she saw him smile. "I was-- Well, I just had class here, you see, and we were instructed to make beautification potions. That would explain my eyes. And... " she didn't exactly want to tell him that she was standing outside the classroom looking into a mirror. He would think me to be as vain as Cissy, she thought. "I just needed to stop out here to check my bag. I thought I forgot something." She looked around the dark dungeons. "It's terribly depressing down here, isn't it?"

Sitting in a corner all alone,Staring from the bottom of his soulWatching the night come in from the window, windowIt'll all collapse tonight, the fullmoon is here againIn sickness and in health, understanding so demanding--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- He smiled a very relieved smile as she reassured him she wasn't hurt. Hurting someone else had been his biggest fear ever since Fenrir Greyback had bitten him. If it was possible for Remus to truly hate that would be the one person he would say he hated. But for now it seemed like he hadn't actually hurt her and that was such a relief. However at the comment that he couldn't hurt a fly he almost forgot himself and said that he very easily could, he managed to snap his mouth shut just in time to stop himself though and ran a hand awkwardly through his hair. "Well your eyes turned out to be really easy to notice after that potion so I'm guessing you got it right. I on the other hand failed miserably when we had that potion in calls. I'd been sick and I sneezed into it at the wrong moment, I guess that's what made it all go wrong because when I drank it my nose grew so big I kept falling over and couldn't walk. James and Sirius had to help carry it to the hospital wing, they've never let me live it down since!"
He couldn't help himself but to tall into a massive laughing fit once he'd finished with the story, the image was still clear in his head of his friends carrying his over sized nose to the hospital wing and the exclamation of madam Pomfrey once they'd walked in there. It was absolutely hilarious. Though he hadn't found it as funny at the time, now every time he thought about it, it made him laugh until he had to wipe tears from his eyes. Oh the things they ended up getting into, some of them were just absolutely and totally silly but that's what made it so much fun. Besides that time it had been his own actions that led to his doom and not some mischievous prank James had gotten him into. For once he'd had no one to blame but himself and the annoying cold he'd had. He'd been meaning to go get a potion for it after class anyway but at least that was taken care of as a result of the potions class. Slughorn had also just about died laughing at the result, after all it wasn't life threatening and other than being annoying it really hadn't hurt.
He wiped at his eyes as he finished laughing and then nodded a little as she said it was kind of dark and dreary down there in the dungeons. He never did like it much down here. "Yeah it really is pretty unpleasant down here, I generally try never to come down here unless I have class here or need to go to the kitchens for one reason or another. Well that and whenever the others drag me down here to pull some prank on some random unsuspecting Slytherin." He nodded a little but then frowned as he thought about all the mean things they had done to Snape over the years. He really didn't like that part at all. He felt so guilty about it. He smiled again though as he thought about the others they'd pulled pranks on, it was after all pretty fun.
