Haven was very familiar with balls and formal attire; being in a rich family, he'd attended many. In fact, his family had hosted a few in his home, which were, naturally, a roaring success. So, although for many, the option to dress up in a tux or a fancy dress was new and exciting, for him it was pretty same-samey. The only difference was that he would possibly enjoy this one, given the fact that it was with people his own age rather than people from his father's work.
He looked at himself in the mirror, staring in a detached way at his own reflection, and adjusted his bow tie a little. he'd chosen to wear a dark blue patterned bow tie with black pants, a cream sweatshirt over the top of a white shirt with a white blazer. He didn't intend on wearing the blazer for much of the night, but it definitely completed his look, the tail reaching just above the back of his knees. He was satisfied with the way he looked. Putting a little wax in his hair, he set off to the ball.
Unsurprisingly, he had no date. This wasn't because he wasn't attractive - he was (in his opinion, at least). Neither was it because he wasn't a nice guy - he was to those that he wanted to be. In fact, he had more than his fair share of friends within his house. The reason that he had no date was because he wasn't particularly interested in anyone. Yes, he could have taken a friend, but all of those seemed to have partners. Besides, although he wouldn't admit it to anyone but himself, Haven most certainly preferred guys. He was sure that other people were gay or bi, but it wasn't something that he frequently asked, and all of the good ones seemed to be straight, taken, or hufflepuff.
Despite the fact that he was flying solo that night, he intended on having a good time. There were a lot of people that he could hang out with and have a good time with, even if they hadn't come together. Perhaps he'd even meet somebody else that was alone that night, though he didn't think that anyone would like to attend alone.
Strolling through the gardens, he surveyed the area. Most people were gathered in groups, chatting animatedly and laughing together. The rest of them were in twos, already dancing, arms around each other. He couldn't see a single person on their own. Furthermore, with everyone dressed in formalwear, he couldn't tell which houses they were in, aside from the people in his year and the few that he knew in other years. Sighing, he perched himself on a stone wall, suddenly feeling a little more lonely. It was undeniable that he wanted a date, even though he enjoyed being alone usually. Haven decided that he'd sit there a little longer until he found an appropriate date, or a few of his friends that didn't mind him intruding.

Senseless Denial, We spun like birds on fire right down towards the residence and i I took all that I desired even crooks have to pay the rent We swam like rats on fire right, right down the reservoir We took all that we could carry but we tried to carry more Jayden wasn't planning on going to the ball he more than anything wanted to sit on his own in the Ravenclaw tower and think about how the only guy he knew was his brother, whom was probably sat down there waiting for some guy, but no matter how hard Jayden protested, he was forced to wear the ridiculous suit his muggle mother had bought him. He was staring at his ginger hair that seemed to be everywhere. He had in fact just woke up from a nap, that he seemed to be enjoying.
Huffing he waxed his hair into spikes and winked at the mirror. The fact that his family wasn't all the wealthy but had a good amount of money on them, he was used to the ball thing, but the formal attire was something he had to get used to. He was wearing a normal black blazer, with no tails, tails looked silly in his opinion, a white button up shirt and a nice pair of slacks. His nice dragon hide flats, and a undone bow tie. He may be all into look smart, but his tie was something he would NOT do up.
He had no date and to be fair right now, he wasn't about to get one, no one he knew swung his way and his friends were all dating each other so that was out of the picture. She ruffled his spiky hair once as he made his way into the garden, waving to the people he knew, before he stared around for a moment. He couldn't exactly find anything to pick his interest. He released a sigh as he made his way over to the stone wall, that someone was already occupying. "Don't mind do you? Dancing not really my thing, especially when I'm alone." Dancing all together, wasn't really his thing, but hey no need to tell the kid that little nid bit of detail.
He didn't recognise the kid, and nor did he mind, as long as he wasn't a purist pile of scum. He was attractive either way, striking up friendly conversation was the thing Jayden was most likely to do so thus he did, by commenting on the way they were both sat alone on a bench. Jayden yawned once more, covering his mouth with his hand before clenching his fist and shoving it back into his pocket. It was a habit of his when he was nervous, he'd sit with his hands in his pockets, and avert his eyes to the floor. 425 words. Outfit – Formal, Notes: Sorry this will get longer in time. I'm just low on muse all together at this point. |

Swinging his legs so that his feet scuffed against the floor, Haven was becoming more and more bored as time passed by. A variety of music was playing - at this moment in time it was a slow song. He watched as people's bodies swang in time with each other, many of them with their arms wrapped around each other, some goofing around with each other. There were a lot of first years standing to the sides dancing in groups looking like idiots, probably because they hadn't actually matured enough to care about girlfriends or boyfriends. Even their foolish interaction would have been better than sitting alone at a ball, all dressed up for no reason.
Just as he was about to get up, somebody came and sat beside him. "Don't mind do you? Dancing not really my thing, especially when I'm alone," he said, before stuffing his hands into his pockets and looking down again.
Haven examined him, smiling a bit. He was, undeniably, very cute. He looked quite a bit older than Haven did, but then, Haven probably didn't look his age. His hair was a fiery red, a colour that Haven had always found attractive, since not many people seemed to have it, and it stood out more. It was in Haven's nature to pick out the bad in people, and in this particular guy, he picked out his choice of wardrobe. It wasn't what Haven would call 'formal', and it was pretty bland. Having said that, a lot of people were looking the same way that night.
"Yeah, go for it, whatever," he said. "I mean, clearly I'm alone too, so... And watching people, er, dance, or whatever they think they're doing, isn't exactly entertaining me."
Haven held a hand out towards the boy, putting on his same forced smile that he always did when meeting new people. "I'm Haven Inkersole. Pleasure to meet you."
It really was a shame that every cute guy he ever came across was straight. Either that or some mudblood from Hufflepuff. There must be some gay guys out there though. He was beginning to think that a lot of the guys he met actually were gay, but told him that they were straight because they didn't like him. But of course, that was unlikely because, well, he was Haven.

Senseless Denial, We spun like birds on fire right down towards the residence and i I took all that I desired even crooks have to pay the rent We swam like rats on fire right, right down the reservoir We took all that we could carry but we tried to carry more It was the slow song that made this meeting even more awkward, his brown eyes were watching the other students, sway, some laughing at an inside joke, and then some first years dancing like goons because well. They were goons. Watching the other students dance made Jayden feel even more lonely then he already was, it was a stupid feeling and he despised it but really when your sexuality was a minority, you have a hard time working your way around it. The guy was cute, Jayden couldn't deny that, and he looked much younger than he was, which made it seem like it was forbidden.
He offered a small smile before he turned away to look at the dancing students, it was awkward. Just sitting there not talking, next to a person at any other time of the day he'd probably try to converse with, it was like he didn't want people to get the wrong impression... But what was the wrong impression? Yeah... go for it... whatever. The kid almost sounded down about him sitting there, he tilted his head, his hand being brought up to ruffle his spiky ginger locks as he blinked. "I don't think whatever they're doing is entertaining anyone..." he chuckled at his own words, before biting his lip. He had a horrible laugh, it was so.. feminine. As he actually looked at the male next to him he realized he was all dressed up for a foul occasion such as this, which made him feel slightly under dressed. Like he was actually sat wearing a formal attire. Which was ridiculous, he never wore formal clothes, his mother wouldn't let him.
Jayden took his hand, shaking it once before dropping it, and nodding in acknowledgement. "I'm Jayden Jake Jagger, Ravenclaw house." He knew even if he told him that it wouldn't matter, because well. It doesn't matter what house he was from because the kid was totally not attracted to him, who would be? No one found gingers attractive anymore. He frowned as he bit into his lip silently, why was he getting so worked up about this? He had two years left and then he could leave Hogwarts and he wouldn't be around any of this people for much longer. He was sat in thought for a moment, a frown on his face as he tried to think were he had heard the name “Haven” before. It wasn't exactly the most common name known, and heck it wasn't a name used generally in the muggle word, which narrowed it down to every half blood and pureblood kid in the school. – Oh the joys of trying to figure that out. 448 words. Outfit – Formal, Notes: Sorry this will get longer in time. I'm just low on muse all together at this point. |

"I don't think whatever they're doing is entertaining anyone..."
Haven looked out at the crowd in disgust. The laughter and romance was beginning to piss him off now. "Clearly they're entertained." He nodded over to a couple that were now making out a little too intimately considering they were stood in the middle of the dance floor. Now scowling, he looked down. It had been a while since he'd done that with anyone. Not in public, of course; he wasn't a fan of PDAs.
"I'm Jayden Jake Jagger, Ravenclaw house."
Haven thought about that for a moment, pausing in his thoughts. He wasn't a Slytherin, always a downpoint. But Haven could stand the Ravenclaws, mainly because of their intelligence. If there was one thing he hated most it was stupidity. Sure, Haven's vocabulary wasn't all that great at times, and he was not the smartest kid, but there were some people that just shocked him with their lack of knowledge.
Haven didn't even give a single thought to what his blood status might be, - he was too busy thinking about how much he wanted a date, and he didn't think he'd find that in this guy. He brushed off the fact he wasn't in Ravenclaw and his expression returned to his usual, lazy smile.
"I'm a Slytherin. 7th year." Haven shrugged, looking back towards Jayden. "And really, I need a date right now. I came here alone, and apparently no other girl or.. or girl did that." He quickly corrected himself, since he didn't like to admit to people that he was attracted to guys. He was a little afraid of what people would think, particularly those that were intimidated by him or friends with him. "You know anyone else looking for a date? I'll settle for anything at this point... wow, that sounded desperate, let's pretend I never said it..." He bit his lip, looking nervously around. He stumbled upon his words and said stupid things a lot, a habit which he seriously needed to get out of if he actually wanted any friends.
Haven fiddled with his bow tie a little, feeling his face get hot. He'd said two stupid things in the space of about one minute, and was beginning to worry what this guy must think of him. "Uh, okay, maybe I should leave.." Leave to where, he didn't know, but it wouldn't surprise him if Jayden wanted him to at this point.
