"Little Greek goddess..." Everly murmured to her reflection in the mirror, staring shyly at the face that that had come to know well over the past sixteen years. With Ophelia's help she had completely managed to transform her face, a shimmery substance sprinkled on her cheeks and a rosy bush giving her paleness some life. The girl who hesitantly looked back at her was someone that she couldn't recognize, the mirror presenting her with a stranger who she should have been well acquainted with. "You resemble a Greek goddess, not Everly Caldwell, she said slowly, pointing to herself in the mirror as if her reflection needed to be notified about who she was addressing. Ophelia had called her a Greek goddess, insisting that her dress matched with her shoes and arm band mimicked the image of a Greek goddess. Greek goddesses were Athena, Demeter, Persephone: not Everly Caldwell.
The shock that she was attending the ball still hadn't fully set in for her. Initially she hadn't even planned to be a part of the gaggle of girls who's excitement for the ball grew with each day that had passed. Her night was going to be spent curled up on the common room, all of her books spread out around her with a never ending length of parchment taking over her lap. Studying was something that she had been slacking on lately and with the lack of activity in the common room she would have the perfect opportunity to catch up on her assignments. A paper airplane had been the one thing to change all of that. Caspian Paraway had asked her to accompany him to the ball and in a sudden surge of courage she had impulsively checked off the 'yes' box. Adrenaline had been the reason that she had acted so quickly, giving no thought to the answer that she replied to the offer. Someone wanted to go to the ball with her, a living person that was capable of intelligent speech. Everly would have more batty than Charity Burbage to decline the offer.
"Everly Caldwell is not here tonight," she spoke to herself, almost cringing when she realized that the conversation she was participating in was only occurring between her reflection and herself. Immediately she snapped her mouth shut, there would be no reason for anyone to call her crazy. Instead of talking she took to gazing at herself with a careful eye, not wanting to get to drawn to staring at the beautiful girl who was peering directly back at her. She didn't want to say that she had self esteem issues but it wasn't clear that she had much confidence at all. With the veil of the dress and makeup Ever felt that even if for the night she would have a faux supply of confidence. Glamour can even make an ugly girl feel pretty. Her thoughts were concluded and before they grew even more gloomy she was going to have to tear herself from the mirror.
The instructions that she had been given were basic enough to understand. Since Caspian was a fellow Hufflepuff they wouldn't have to go through the troubles of trying to track one another down at their designated meeting spot. "By the common room entrance at nightfall, she repeated to herself, convinced that if she spoke the words out loud it would give more solidification to the whole situation. Windows were something that couldn't be placed in a dungeon, so instead of relying on the sun to dictate when she should leave her dormitory Everly turned to a complicated time telling device. With thirteen hands and the numbers written backwards it was a surprise that Everly was able to tell that it was close to the time for her to wander down into the common room. A part of her wished that she momentarily lost her ability to tell time. Having to go to the ball with an actual date was a horribly terrifying thing for withdrawn Everly.
If she had been wearing heels the walk from the dormitory to the common room would have been a taste of hell for Ever. Her legs had begun to shake the moment she slid off of her bed and frantically hugged Ophelia. "I swear I'll save you at least one dance. Well, you directing and me dumbly following along." Before Ophelia could scold her for being too insecure Ever shuffled out of the room and then instantly regretted her sudden urge to leave the security of the room. She was right on time, that was something she had been sure about but it was making her heart rate pick up. When she entered the common room she was beginning to worry that her heart would burst right through her chest. "Just what Cassie--Caspian would want, a date whose heart went straight through her chest," she muttered, brows knitting together in distaste at her own thoughts. Ever shuffled her feet across the remainder of the room, careful not to sink against the wall when she was finally lingering by the entrance. A dirty dress would not be permitted at the ball.
Her sandal clad foot tapped with hesitance, her mind jumping to the assumption that he wasn't going to show and it had all been a sick trick to pull on the timid girl. She became absorbed in glancing down at her dress, taking her hands and adjusting the cinched waist because she swore it gave her some sort of discomfort. Caspian was given the perfect chance then to creep up on her. A shrill squeal came from her when he seemed to appear out of nowhere and grab firmly on her waist. Her hands immediately flew from her waistband and reached out to shove at him as roughly as she could. It didn't do much more then earn a hearty laugh from Caspian and a puff of the cheeks from Ever. "You're not going to be happy until you give me a heart attack," Everly huffed, withholding a smile that could be seen in her eyes. Her arms reached out and she wrapped them around his torso, reaching for his neck would have been impossible so she settled for an improvised hug. "We should probably get moving."
Her arms were grudgingly pulled away from and she then focused back on herself. Her eyes glanced down at her dress once more and it caused a frown to bloom on her face."Now that I look at my dress more I feel like I am wearing a toga..." she murmured, speaking to him but in the end talking more to herself. Everly took a deep breath and then reached out and tugged securely on his hand. Her head titled back and she glanced up at him with glimmering eyes. "We'll be going now," she tried to say with forcefulness, only sounding more comical because she was trying to enforce authority that she didn't have. Caspian didn't need to answer, the little girl beside him tugged on his hand and she trudged out of the common room and through the castle. She didn't try to keep the conversation, only clung to his side and shook slightly as they came closer to the gardens. "On second thought...can I just go back to the common room...? I have a herbology assignment that I could really dedicate some time to..." Her heels buried themselves firmly into the crack between two of the bricks on the path. She didn't want to come any closer to the ball.

caspian paraway looked at himself in the mirror of his dorm, standing up as straight as he could and back down to his normal posture. and repeat. he tugged on his hair, patting it down and flatting down the sides that tried to force their way back up. and repeat. sticking his teeth out, he clenched them together lightly to make sure there was nothing hiding in his teeth. clear, alright. he grinned back at himself brightly and wiggled his eyebrows, up and down, puckering his lips together and withdrew them again into a grin. he pulled his eyebrows together again, raising just one and pouting a little, trying his hand at a sexy face. it didn’t last long before he was already laughing it off. he straightened his clean cut black dress robes, brand new and never yet worn. the robes had been purchased just for the occasion. he straightened them once more in satisfaction before leaving the dormitory. looked good, felt good, and now it was time to meet up with his date.
everly caldwell, the girl he’d set his eyes on since quite possible the first night he first met her. she’d been crying her eyes out at first about a previous conversation she’d had with some asshole or another about her abusive father. somewhere in the conversation, he’d been able to somehow convince her to go for a swim though she had apparently never done so before. it was weird, he liked her. she was good company, in her absolute silliness, so he’d asked her to go to the ball with him. in natural Caspian fashion, he’d thrown a paper airplane at her, and she’d said yes. though, he could admit (only to himself of course) that he wasn’t quite sure she’d accept. she seemed a bit shy, and well, Caspian was definitely not shy. he was in fact, the complete opposite of shy. so he’d been half contemplating whether or not he’d appear too .. forward.. was that the word he was looking for? but nonetheless that didn’t seem to be a problem, which was good, because he hadn’t really considered it to be an obstacle in the first place. he waited for her in the common room, in front of the exit where he had told her to meet him. he spotted her right away, she was definitely not wearing heels so her tiny little form in the extravagant white was easy to spot in the crowd. she was turned the other way, a perfect victim to fall prey to his surprise attack, grabbing her from the waist. he laughed heartedly at her as she shoved him back, stepping back so that she could turn to face him. ”yes, that is my main goal in life, damnit I’ve been caught!” he replied, smiling back at her.
he eyed her outfit, the makeup and her hair. she looked… different. not necessarily in a bad way but definitely in a very good way. he grinned at her, biting his lip only slightly. ”you look like the most marvellous ancient roman I have ever seen, bev” he said, in good humour. was this his idea of a compliment? maybe.. he didn’t mean it in a bad way, it was just what he thought when someone said toga. togas were an ancient roman thing right? or ancient greek? well, it was one of those ancient-esc styles. he returned the hug while leaning down to give her a gentle kiss as he was at it. he nudged her a little when she began murmuring to herself. ”i like your toga, it suits you because it’s very … everly” he said cheerily. he grinned when she put on her forceful, authoritative tone, raising his eyebrows in obvious amusement. ”aye aye cap’n, let’s do this thing” he replied back excitedly as he reached down and took her hand. and they left the common room together.
they had barely reached the gardens when everly turned to him, shaking. his eyebrows furrowed together in concern, absolutely unsure of what she was even talking about. something about a herbology assignment, though he could tell that was not it at all. something about the way she said it, cas would see right through it. though he couldn’t exactly tell her that, he knew she was nervous. the reason behind her nerves however, he couldn’t place a finger on it. was it him specifically? did she not want to be seen with him or had something actually come up… but emergency herbology homework of all things, how likely was that? answer: very, very unlikely. no, he didn’t believe her at all. he looked at her carefully analysing the expression along her face. caspian shook his head. ”absolutely not!” he said very flat out, his lips turned up in what could very easily become a laugh. ”do you know how long it took me to get primped up and ready for you? I had to find my robes, and my makeup, and these shoes are already hurting my poor unfortunate toes but here I am, so we are going in there ms caldwell, even if we’re only there for two minutes and half a song” he said very stubbornly. perhaps she’d be able to tell that he was only halfway bullshitting her. it had taken him only a good twenty minutes to get ready, and ten of those minutes were used just because he could not figure out where he had placed the package his mum had sent of his new dressrobes (under the bed).
he supposed, if she really was so uncomfortable with the idea of going, he would take them back, yet, he couldn’t help but figure this was just her own nerves speaking. ”I have yet to even show you my dance moves everly, and no silly assignment about grass will ever give you the same amount of pleasure” he swung his hips wildly from side to side, grinning at her.

She shouldn't have permission to make impulsive choices under any amount of pressure. Everly's thinking wasn't even straight when nothing was pestering her mind. So to come to a decision when her mind was clouded with thoughts of the ball hadn't been the best choice on her part. Her head was now feeling light with dizziness and she wasn't particularly sure that she was in the best frame of mind at the moment. Her type of personality didn't belong at a ball, especially with her extreme amounts of awkwardness and how easily she was plunged into anxiety. Obviously her thought process hadn't been functioning properly when she had agreed to accompanying Caspian Paraway to the ball. All that needed to be done was stepping out of the common room carefully and then flying up into her dormitory. Caspian wouldn't be able to pursue her, thanks to the charm that had been set against guy's entrance into the female dormitory. Then she could potentially begin the Herbology assignment that possibly had been purposely avoided all week.
Shouldn't it have been expected that Caspian would have waited until the ideal opportunity to pounce on Everly and frighten her when her attention wasn't foccused? It was exactly what Everly should have expected but admittedly the thought hadn't even come to her mind. Predictability was something that the Hufflepuff had come to rely on and she was only beginning to adjust to the fact that no trace of predictability was promised with Caspian. Every time they met Everly didn't have the slightest clue of what would be in store, he was a theatrical person and it showed in the way that he acted. She was busying herself, ignoring his hearty laugh by pulling at the pinched waist of her dress. Merlin, it was difficult to try and camouflage her smile when she could tell that Caspian was beaming down at her. Her head tilted back and brilliant smile was aimed up at him. "I suggest that you discover a new life goal, one that doesn't incorporate frightening your girlfriend on a daily basis," Everly advised, crinkling her nose with a withheld laughter. Caspian was adorable and she couldn't find any clever way to come about saying it.
A heavy blue gaze was brought down on her, suddenly giving the urge to squirm frantically. Squirm she did do, shifting her feet back and forth then shaking out her arms. To Caspian the display seemed comical while he continued to survey her and the job that she had done on her appearance. Everly felt overly insecure, wanting to crawl out of her own skin and leave the shell of her self to Caspian for the remainder of the night. She was beginning to seriously consider covering her hands over eyes when Caspian finally spoke. Had he given her a twisted compliment of sorts? Her gaze turned back up onto him, the corners of her eyes crinkling as gave him another smile. "Thank you," Everly murmured, face flushed with heat because he had openly praised her. "You're most charming wizard that I ever have laid eyes on," she complimented, face shielded by her hands because she was feeling pathetically mortified. Had her compliment been utterly cheesy and overused? Hopefully Caspian didn't mind too much. Everly was still too new to the whole relationship business. The kiss was a surprise, something unexpected but still very pleasant to receive. On the tops of her toes Everly stood so that she could return the kiss and press her lips against his. By the time that she dropped back down onto her feet a smile had spread across her face. She really did enjoy Caspian kisses. A soft squeak came from her, she was jostled from Caspian's nudge but soon giggling at his words. "You're just saying that because you don't have anything else to compare me with," Everly softly retorted. She didn't take any offense to the words, she actually found them endearing. At least she could say that he was creative. He seemed to be amused when Everly tried her best at a possessive tone, but he humored her...maybe a little too much. "Captain Everly, I think that it has a ring to it," she decided, a grin flourishing on her face. Her fingers intertwined with his and once their hands were secure Everly directed their way out of the common room. Could Everly be really blamed with all of the pressure that had been pressed onto her? In all six of her years at Hogwarts this was the first ball that she was attending hanging off the arm of a date. It just wasn't any date, it was Caspian Paraway. He was a theatrical, quirky, upbeat guy and for some reason had taken an odd liking to Everly Caldwell, who was his opposite in any imaginable way. With the gardens only looming right in front of them Ever felt like she could gag from all of the nervousness that had settled in her stomach. It didn't help when Caspian dropped his gaze to inspect the cowering girl that was clinging desperately to his side. She peered back up at him, a little shocked when he bluntly denied the words that she had muttered. "It's a big assignment that could take all night..." she weakly retorted, her interest in the work that she was blabbing on abut wasn't even apparent. The argument that Caspian proposed only made her giggle. She shook her head softly at him. "You beautified yourself for me. I'd be a horrible person if I let a pretty Caspian go to waste," Everly gently teased, burying her face into his side. She really did want to enjoy the night with Caspian and try to take the most out of the experience of the ball. Slowly she stepped back from his side and then turned her head to look over at him. Her eyes widened a little when Caspian began to reel his hips around wildly, displaying a sneak peak of his "dance moves." Ever jumped forward, a giggle forming in the bottom of her stomach as she reached out and gripped firmly at his hips. "Save those moves for the dance floor...or when you're all alone," she giggled, keeping her hold on him until his hips calmed down and acted tame. "Keep your hips under control control and I'll stay. I'll even seal that promise with a kiss," Ever murmured, keeping her hands on her hands on his hips and standing on her toes to softly kiss him. Pulling away she took her hands off of him and stepped forward. "C'mon slowpoke," she teased, grinning up at him. 1, 114 words , Outfit ,These words came out of nowhere ,

he grinned wildly towards everly. he raised his eyebrows up at her, feigning his surprise at this suggestion. a new life’s goal? ”that doesn’t sound like a whole lot of fun, and then someone else would just come by to take my place in terrifying you to a fit of giggles, and we can’t have that, can we!” he pointed out smartly. she seemed …uncomfortable under his gaze, to say the least. perhaps it had been a conversation they had had together in his dorm room a few nights earlier that had made him more perceptive of this side of everly. the conversation they’d had in which she admitted to him that she did not think herself good enough for him. he still couldn’t really put his finger on why, or how she could think such a thing, and he’d tried to inform her that this wasn’t the case. he couldn’t understand how she could possibly think this of herself. regardless, he tried not to marvel on it too much, but times such as these, her squirms of discomfort and the way she didn’t look back at him while he looked over her and her dress. he laughed at her compliment back at him, grinning back at her in absolute amusement. she really could not be, any cuter. ”why beverly, I do believe you are the sweetest witch to have graced this fine earth, and most definitely the sweetest lady to have ever given me the time of day,” he replied back, knowing fully well that he was being equally as cheesy.
though caspian had never exactly minded that aspect about him per say. he could admit that he knew fully well that he was a bit of a corny guy. he was theatrical sure, a “dramallama” as his twin cousins had named him so. he was very… expressive was all. he often had a lot to say and various expressions that could describe each given situation. why stick to being plain jane, or lame larry when there were so many more interesting possibilities! he smiled back at her when she flushed, her smile practically triggering his own when she looked at him after the kiss. he paused, pondering her second comment. ”…shall I instead compare thee to a summer’s day? thou art more lovely and more temperate…” he replied back, though he was already holding back his own smirk. he was going to continue, but the truth was, he couldn’t hardly remember what came after that line. something about the shaking of the rough winds of may, blah blah blah and a few more metaphors.
”wait a sec, if you’re the captain, does that make me the first mate?” he asked curiously. ”though, I would look good dressed as a sailor… we would need to be pirates, much cooler” he added almost as an afterthought. he shot her a playful wink, smirking to himself. well, he could not deny that he loved a good trip out on the boats, though he couldn’t exactly admit to having been on very many in his life time. his family did have a boat, sure but for the most part, cas didn’t bother to use it. it was just one of those… possessions he had grown to depend on for just being there. not necessarily needing to be used, just there, but if say, his family were to actually plan on getting rid of the boat, he’d probably put up the biggest argument against the idea completely. the boat had been there for a good number of years, and though cas had went a few times, he’d never specifically went out of his way to do so. maybe one day, he’d take everly on that boat.
he didn’t want to hear a word of her leaving him tonight though, he would absolutely not allow it. unless of course she burst into tears and was genuinely terrified at the thought… but he didn’t think that everly would actually go that far to not go into the ball. not when she’d already dressed up and had seemingly been up for the idea a few minutes ago. it was just nerves, he concluded, and nerves could easily be jumped over and ignored. he scoffed, laughing at her attempts at making the assignment “big” and important. his face light up as she admitted that she would go inside with him, looking down to her level and grinning widely. ”you really shouldn’t let me go to waste like this, I only do this for very few occasions and to impress only a few, special people” he teased back, though that part was sort of true. caspian did not mind dressing up, he quite enjoyed it really. he just didn’t do it very often, because half the time he didn’t have a lot to really do while wearing dress robes, and secondly when he did, he was often quite lazy to do it. today he’d been much too excited, having anticipated this night out, so he didn’t very much mind, as everly had called it, beautifying himself, for her.
he laughed as she tried to tame his hips by holding her hands over the them. he stopped swinging his hips at her touch, though took the time to sneakily wrap one of his arms around her waist. ”what do you mean? I’ve been practising my dance moves all week for this night” he replied back, raising his eyebrows up innocently, but returning her kiss. ”I can’t promise anything, these hips don’t move to my command. it’s all in the music baby!” he replied back as they broke apart, and he grinned a bit more, leaving his arm on her lower back gently and walking alongside her into the gardens. caspian was only teasing of course. he was … an alright dancer. his mother had thrown him into ballroom lessons at a very young age. of course, having been ten, the thing he remembered most was how pretty the instructor had been, but he was not particularly clumsy regardless. a few steps to the left, a few to the right, back and forth, clockwise spin? it wasn’t really that big of a deal. he’d just check out what the other guys were doing on the floor, and if worse came to worse, well, he’d just twirl everly around in circles. no big deal! the gardens did look a bit different tonight, he would allow hogwarts to take credit for that. there was an opening laid out as the dance floor where quite a few people had already taken centre stage. cas allowed his hand to travel over to everly’s and he tugged gently. ” let’s dance” he said quietly, smiling despite himself.

Caspian would never tire of teasing Everly in any constructive way that his mind could conjure up. With all of the outrageous ideas and outlandish comments that came of from Ever figured that the light teases and taunts would never come to a halt. She whined quietly when he prodded at his with his antics but Everly honestly did mind it much at all. He was taking the time to focus his attention on her while he put his mind to work, trying to invent a new slew of teases to direct at her. It was extremely silly, the way that she valued how he jabbed at her and made it an actual goal to frighten her. Caspian paid attention to her, that was the main thing she was drawing from it all. Having him come up and grab at her sides when she least expected was one of the things that she treasured. He could scare her and give her near heart attack experiences a million times over and Ever wouldn't want to have it any other way. Her lips pursed like she was taking time to plunge into serious thought. "I've suddenly changed my mind," Everly said to him slowly, like she as giving time for the words to soak in. "I've decided that I would appreciate it if you continued to scare the wits out of me," Everly declared. She looked up at him, eyes bursting with some sort of energy that couldn't be understood. A giggle bubbled in her and it came out as a giggle-snort. Caspian worked the inner child out of Everly, something that she really did appreciate.
Just like his teasing, the very creative compliments were something only flattered her even more. Everly could continue on the tangent that no one else paid the same of attention to her that Caspian did. Before Caspian not many people really even cared to glance over at. Now that he had been introduced into her life people like his twin cousins were regarding with behavior that she couldn't quite understand. The time to ponder over it all would have to be later, Caspian's comments and wild gestures kept her mind too captivated to think of much of anything else. He was being extremely corny, borderline on the actions that some girls wouldn't even pay mind to. Ever was easily flustered over all of it, hardly caring that he was quoting an old legend of a play and horribly failing at recalling the exact lines. Her head shook, a tactic that she used to try and play down on the fact that her face was quickly heating up. "Let's leave the Roman ladies and the summer days alone. I look like Everly in a fancy dress," she insisted, murmuring out her words with a smile slapped onto her face. She didn't want to let Caspian know that his words actually had the intended effects.
Her eyes wandered over to him and she looked at him, dubious that he was actually being serious. Quickly she decided that he was actually looking for some sort of answer from her. Her head bobbed in agreement even though she wasn't actually sure. "Yes, you're first mate Paraway. Take the title with all seriousness please, it's no joke." Ever was now hyped up, winking back as he had done to her. Leave it to Caspian to seriously take into consideration the argument of whether or not pirates garb looked better than that of a sailor. Thoughts that all sparked simply because she had decided to take command and he had gifted her with the nickname Captain Everly. For once she decided that it would be amusing to humor him and actually play along with the wacky thought process that could only possibly belong to Caspian. Everly hooked one of her fingers to make it look that her hand had been transformed into a hook. "I'm going to need a parrot and peg leg then. Oh, some rotted teeth too," she said, managing to speak in complete earnest. This is what Caspian deserved for causing Everly to let loose and get worked up over a simple tease.
Excitement and anxiety made a bad combination as they set in the very bottom on her stomach. The boisterous laughing intertwined with the snazzy music for the upscale orchestra floated to her ears and added despair to the deadly mixture. She was overjoyed to have a dolled up and handsome Caspian by her side. A Caspian who seemed truly giddy to be accompanying the scrawny mess of Everly Caldwell to the ball. That one thought cured her nerves but then she was horribly reminded that dancing was apart of the whole idea of going to the ball. Ever had no coordination and she lacked nearly a whole foot when compared to Caspian. Conversation would be required too, conversation that could be possibly overheard by the many others that were surrounding them. Conversing with Caspian would be easy, he could work a conversation out of her. Everyone else made her practically itch with nervousness. She concentrated on Caspian and blocked out the other couples that wandered by them. "I'm honored to be one of those few special people. And I promise that you won't be going to waste," Everly assured him, regretting each of the words as they slipped from her mouth.
She was reminded of someone as she watched Caspian shaking his hips outrageously. Who was it? A muggle star from earlier times. Her mind worked to grasp on the name that was hanging off the tip of her tongue. Elvis! Everly couldn't help but giggle to herself before tilting her head back to look up at him. He looped his arms around her and she pressed closer to him. Everything else was forgotten about now. "What? Did you stand in front of the mirror and watch yourself to make sure that your dancing was superb?" Everly teased, though in all honestly she could have clearly pictured that exact statement happening. His next words brought out another giggle from Everly and for a moment she buried her face into his chest. Where had she managed to find someone so silly? "So you're saying that whenever music is on your hips just have to move and groove. Got it." She stepped away from him, shaking her head while another smile split onto her face. Caspian was quite the character, that was all that she could honestly say.
Then before she could protest Caspian had his arm securely placed behind her lower back, urging her forward. Her sandal clad feet stumbled forward while her mind was still devise some sort of escape plan that actually wouldn't be plausible. She took a deep breath and reached out with one hand to take a tight hold onto the edge of Caspian's dress robes. They were standing right before the dance floor in only a few moments of time, Everly eyeing the gracefully twirling couples with pure terror. Cas' hand was suddenly on hers and gently tugging, she knew instantly what he wanted. Mentally she was clawing at her insides but she looked at him with a shaky smile. "You're going to be a gentleman and lead?" Ever forced herself to sound calm as she led them out onto the dance floor. Her hands couldn't circle around his neck because alas she was too short. She frowned up at him. How were they supposed to dance?

he eyed her suspiciously after that last comment, trying to analyse her expression carefully. well, for one, she was speaking very slowly and she had pursed her lips like she had given it some thought. was she trolling him or was this what she actually wanted? but for as long as caspian had known everly, she’d never particularly enjoyed being picked on or “scared witless” by him or anyone else for that matter. and this, was exactly what he had always found pleasure in doing, half the time because she always told him not to. now that she was telling him to make fun of her, it was strange. he didn’t usually think these things through, they were usually just said because they were the first thing that popped into his head, not on demand. caspian didn’t usually think about anything that he said, which is probably why what he said was often not the nicest thing that needed to be said. he was a strong contender in all things impulsive. he gave her a funny look, though his eyes lit up in amusement, purely as her energy seemed to bubble onto him. ”I can’t tell… if you’re being serious or not….” he said finally, laughing out loud.
he winked at her again as she insisted for him to quit with his recitation of poetry. he had thought she might like it, though she was shaking her head with one of those cute little smiles. he grinned, chuckling a little. ”of course, if you insist, for now” he said, emphasizing on the for now aspect. he couldn’t very well guarantee that something might spit out of his mouth by accident now could he? no he very well could not, and well this was his excuse for everything. caspian looked over at her, a grin playing at the corner of his lips as she declared him the first mate. the very fact that she said to take the title with a lot of seriousness only made him want to laugh out loud. he forced his lips back down to remain serious, or to appear so at the least but then she brought out her “hook” and he couldn’t hold back his laugh anymore. ”a parrot yes you can have, but I am not letting you have rotten teeth. I would not kiss rotten teeth, not even if they were yours” he replied back, grinning widely but making a face at the idea of rotten teeth on everly. ”your teeth are just piratey enough” he added. it was just one of caspian’s turn offs was all, bad oral hygiene, smelly breath, rotten teeth, and he wasn’t one for kissing a smelly mouth.
caspian sensed that she was nervous still, possibly a bit anxious upon walking into the part of the gardens in which the ball would be taking place. it was hard for him to …sympathize to this. caspian was regularly very outgoing and generally good humoured. he was a fast talker and he didn’t often have a problem with getting along with even the toughest people to get along with (though often times, this would be a time in which caspian enjoyed their company much more than they would enjoy his). needless to say, caspian didn’t have much experience with being uncomfortable in social situations, rather, he enjoyed them so much he quite disliked for lengthy amounts of time. he was an extrovert, he always had been, whereas everly was not quite on par with his comfort in socializing. this wasn’t to say he felt bad for her for this in anyway, nor that he wished she’d improve, this was just a fact. he laughed a little more as she commented on him having to practice and watch himself dance in front of the mirror. making his face very serious and calm. ”yes, everyday, four times a day and six hours each time” he replied back to her, maintaining his composure so as to say this as though it were completely true and important for him to say. depending on how you looked at it, it was considerably unfortunate, or else, very fortunate that caspian was in fact a good liar in cases such as these. he didn’t have troubles making flat out lies and most of the time he might be, charismatic enough for others to actual believe him. in this particular example, he wasn’t exactly lying about anything particularly important nor anything that was not easy to notice as anything but a lie, but nevertheless, caspian could be quite convincing if there was a demand for it. he grinned at her quietly afterwards, then nodded at her next remark. ”that’s exactly it, and if all else fails, do what I do”
he led her to the dance floor though he got the hunch, perhaps because of her hands clinging to his dress robes made it appear so. he smiled at her gently, hoping to make her feel better, at least a little bit. ”aren’t I always a gentleman?” he joked as they arrived on the floor. cas placed both his hands on her hips casually, looking down towards her. ”I took dance lessons you know, when I was ten. I know what I’m doing, don’t worry about it, just trust me” he added, grinning a little. he supposed, it was safe to say that his dancing was therefore, not a tremendous fail. he could dance, though it was probably a little known fact about caspian paraway, he was fine with the twirls. heck, he had learned at least a little in those two years of lessons. they swayed to the music, and he swung them at the appropriate times. he had the general steps down, though his only flaws might be that twirled her too early and twirled too fast, to which he couldn’t help but laugh out loud at. he smiled towards her as he brought her close again, swooping her into a stolen kiss as he did. ”are you having a good time yet, ms caldwell?”
