The school year just started and already Dawn was beyond excited for the year. Sure it was just the start of her sixth year, but the mood wrapped around the school was the same, the people were all the same with the few exceptions to the first years. Dawn didn’t mind the people that didn’t like her; it was just to be expected especially with how much of a terrible childhood she had growing up. She rarely tried to think of those terrible moments especially as they constantly went on repeat with some of the other students in the school. Dawn just continued her naturally positive attitude front around people and hope that no one would give her much trouble that particular day. Today was simply the same like any other, Dawn skipped happily down the halls, and it was a constant factor that happened when she was around. She ignored the strange faces that she received as she passed, they generally always happened as she was around, it was one because many who had classes with her, watched her as she zoned out and would claim she had to leave the classroom, or insist something was wrong. Dawn just considered this part of the process, part of her process of being a seer and even more so that she was a Hufflepuff and a muggleborn to add to the already awkward mess that she had under her belt.
Today she was on her way to the library; she was interested in a topic they had touched briefly in class. Dawn also wanted to see if they had any books on being a seer, though she highly doubted that there would be any publications about being one, but she hoped that maybe she could find something on accounts of some. Dawn was a seer but she always felt like her life was shrouded in mystery, constantly she had questions for other people like her and she had never found anyone even the teacher who taught Divination had limited skills in being a seer, nothing that could be considered helpful at least not to her. The possibility of books within the library had to be somewhat plausible; she couldn’t be the only seer in the world and certainly not the only one interested in writing or reading a book about those experiences.
She gently pulled the door open to the library, the scene was as it normally was, shelves upon shelves and rows filled with every ounce of knowledge that the students would and possibly never use. There were students lingering around tables, some alone others in pairs, flipping page after page searching for whatever information they were trying to locate. She casually walked past them, heading straight for the counter, asking in her normal pleasant tone of where she could find books about seers. The librarian barely looked at her and pointed off into the direction and mentioned what aisle she could find her bounty. Dawn perused the titles searching for something that seemed relevant. Every title that she thought would have been helpful she picked up and stacked into her arms, she probably looked like a very well educated Ravenclaw. As she went to turn to head to the tables she ran into someone’s chest. Looking up Dawn smiled pleasantly at the two males that had cornered her. ”Looking for some more freak books Muggle?”
the tallest of the pair asked. Dawn could see another boy behind her, looking more than menacing, sighing deeply she placed her back to the bookshelf, if her power worked better than what it did she would have seen this. ”Yes, I wan…wanted to…. To learn more.” she said stuttering, watching as the books that were within her arms were tossed to the ground. ”You shouldn’t be here at all, Mudblood.” the leader crooned. Dawn continued to frown, her eyes pleading. ”Can you please just leave me alone?” she asked helplessly. [/blockquote][/blockquote] - tagged : cohen played by liv

Things will never be the same Emmet slowly made his way down the stairs to the library. He hadn't had much time to go there until now, well that and he'd been dreading the stairs. School had just started for the year and as always he was as sore and injured as one person could possibly be. Sure he tried his best to hide it, and people didn't generally seem to notice very often, but that didn't make it any less painful to move around. Oh he knew very well that he could have it checked up on and healed but he didn't want to go to the hospital wing as that would just lead to people asking way too many questions. Besides, it wasn't as if he was going to have to go back there after this year anyway right? It was his seventh year and after this school year he would be of age and therefore able to go find himself a job and then find somewhere else to live. That seriously was the only thing keeping this boy even remotely sane lately. The fact that he wouldn't have to deal with this for much longer.
Finally he made it up the stairs and then ran a hand through his hair before he headed into the library. Oh the smell of books, it was such a wonderful smell and it never failed to calm his nerves. So what was he going to look up today? He figured maybe he wanted to look into a spell to animate drawings. He would love to know how to do that and he was sure he'd find a way of doing it eventually, if he could manage to find the right books that was. Oh he didn't bother asking the librarian, he much preferred walking down the iles and seeing what he could find on his own. Maybe he'd even find some books that he didn't know he'd been looking for? The possibility of finding new and interesting information always had him excited and this was no different from any other day when it came to that.
His mind wandered a little as his eyes graced some of the books he was walking past. 'Hippogriffs, a guidance to behavior' and 'Merpeople and their daily lives' were a few of the titles he found himself glancing at. He almost laughed out loud, how ironic, Hippogriffs were the bane of his existence, honestly the animals scared the shit out of him. And somehow he never quite managed to approach them without getting himself hurt. Ugh no, if he could he would seriously avoid them with all he had. They just were not his thing. Anything he could read himself to smarts in though, well that was another story. If you could read it and then learn it he was generally brilliant at it. Oh it wasn't because he didn't need to practice or even study. He sure as hell didn't have a sticky memory, he had to study his ass off for his grades, but he loved doing so and hence he had been placed in Ravenclaw.
It was at that moment that he heard the sneers of someone and then some other person asking and almost begging said person to leave her alone. He let out a soft growl from the back of his throat and turned around the corner to face whoever it was that was pestering her. If there was one thing he didn't tolerate it was bullies and other people picking on someone. It made him absolutely furious. "I think you'd best be on your way if you know what is best for you" he growled angrily. His eyes literally glowing with anger, yet they seemed almost completely black in the same instance, he was clearly pissed off beyond belief. "Now go pick on someone who'll actually fight back, oh like maybe go have a fight with Rodolphus. I'm sure he'd love someone to hex, that is if you have to guts to, which I highly doubt you do!" his voice came as a growl once more as he placed himself between Dawn and the guy standing in front of her. "I suggest you go now, unless you'd like detention on top of it all. Now SCRAM!"

Dawn was hardly pessimistic, it was only when people had come to her and cornered her, did she not see an end in sight. When it came to these boys, it seemed that they liked to pick on her often; it was rarely a time when she wouldn’t find them near to bother her when she was alone. Not that she couldn’t expect it, Dawn knew as much as they did that she was an easy target, rarely did she fight back and wasn’t capable of standing up for herself. If she was as cruel as they were, then she probably would have engaged in the same sort of activities. Dawn always felt so helpless when they came towards her, because she wasn’t that fantastic at spell work and didn’t want to get in trouble and have to face any kind of detention for her actions. She had resolved a long time ago to try and ignore them, ask them to leave her alone pleasantly and hope that in time that they would just leave. Now this had always only worked half of the time, sometimes the boys would get bored waiting for her to start to cry and beg other times it only took a few moments before Dawn would completely break down. Never did anyone ever come to her rescue, not from their own lack of morals, but there was never anyone around.
She was so surprised to see someone, a boy come to her rescue. These things didn’t happen to her, no one came and place themselves in front of the bullies and talked back at them, they just always sauntered away as quickly as they could, some would find a professor but it would always come to a end before there could be anything done about the boys. Dawn inspected the boy as best as she could, despite him his back turned towards her, shielding her from the trio of boys. He was taller than her, but most males were, and he had dark hair, there was no telling what color his eyes were from this angle. Dawn peered around him observing the boy’s reactions to the newcomer, their eyes wide with surprise that someone had appeared out of anywhere. A small smile formed on her lips, she couldn’t be more grateful to the stranger who had rescued her from the bullies. He seemed so angry towards them; she had to wonder if the boy himself had problems with them before himself. ”Look gang the girl has a boyfriend.”
the larger boy sneered. Dawn cowered closer to the bookshelf and away from the mystery boy, her cheeks flushed with a light blush. She could never have a boyfriend, people found her so strange sometimes, especially boys; they found her peculiar and never spoke to her, at least aside from the few friends she had made. Dawn watched carefully the group, muttering to herself hoping that they would just leave, if they decided to go to throwing punches around, Dawn wasn’t in the greatest of spots, she was between a wall and a hard a boy, who could easily be thrust into her if someone pushed. She frowned deeply when he claimed that they could go to Rodolphus, though Dawn didn’t know the Lestrange personally, but she knew of him he was hardly the greatest person alive. She doubted the boys would like to get on the bad side of him, or his brother. Dawn would ignore the boys herself; she was in enough trouble with the few people that she associated with in the Slytherin house. She watched them as they considered the possibility, their eyes lingering inspecting Dawn and Emmett closely wondering if they should continue to pester the pair, or if they should leave, the better choice from Dawn’s standpoint was they should leave, but she didn’t want to voice it. ”Alright mates, let’s leave. “ the leader slowly began to walk off, his eyes locking in a glare towards Dawn and Emmett once more. ”We’ll see you again mudblood.” they snapped disappearing from the library. Dawn sighed in relief, giving a tiny smile to the boy who had saved her, she was grateful, it wasn’t everyday that someone came to help her and even less so when there was trouble in numbers. ”Thank you, you didn’t have to do that though.” she insisted, frowning and leaning over to pick up the books that had been dropped, picking them up carefully she looked at the boy once more, steadying the large pile in her arms. ”I’m Dawn.” [/blockquote][/blockquote] - tagged : cohen played by liv

Things will never be the same To say he was fuming with anger was the understatement of the century, who were cowardly enough to pick on this girl who seemed nothing but sweet? He was just absolutely livid at the thought of someone pestering someone so unwilling to fight back. The stare he gave the three boys stated as much and there was not an ounce of hesitation in him even though his entire body still ached from the abuse it had taken right before school had started. He ignored it for now simply because well, there were more important things to worry about. After all his injuries were going to heal, all he wanted to do was make sure that she didn't get any similar to it. He would never accept that she would get injured. No it just seemed wrong. "Piss off!" he growled as he heard them comment about her having a boyfriend, he wasn't even going to bother denying their comment, regardless of the fact that of course he wasn't. They hadn't spoken before it was just a matter of him wanting to protect her.
His fury rose even more at their next comment as they left. They'd called her a mudblood, a word that pissed him off beyond belief whenever it was spoken to anyone other than himself. He was too used to taking beatings and hearing people say nasty things about him to care that people here at school sometimes did it. If there was one thing people generally failed at it was getting him worked up when they tried picking on him, and so most bullies had given up on that feat ages ago. It simply got too boring when he didn't even bat an eyelash at their comments. After all there was nothing they could do to him that his parents hadn't already beaten them in doing and so he didn't fear them. He never really feared for his own safety, except whenever he was back at his parents' house during breaks, only then did he ever really fear for himself, only then did he cower at the words and actions of bullies. After all, what could he do? They were his parents."And don't let me hear you say anything like that again or you'll live to regret it!" he called out angrily after the retreating bullies.
He then took a deep breath and turned around to face the girl he'd been stepping in to save. Only then did he realize that she was in fact incredibly pretty and that she looked sort of shy. He couldn't believe the next words that left her lips, he hadn't had to do that? Of course he'd had to! They'd been mean and he had hated hearing it. "Of course I did, they shouldn't be allowed to get away with treating anyone like that. Besides, they're gone now and that's much better right?" he asked softly, his voice nowhere near harsh anymore. In fact it was soft and friendly, very unlike the first tone he'd used with the bullies. There was even an underlying tone there that stated that he really did indeed care about her and whether or not she was alright. "They didn't hurt you did they?" he asked, his voice concerned as he looked her over to see if he could spot any obvious injuries.
Then suddenly as she said her name he realized that he hadn't introduced himself to her yet, oh how rude could one person get? He smiled a warm smile at her as he continued looking her over. "Oh, how rude am I, I'm Emmett" he stated, starting to reach out his hand in order to shake hers but realized her hands were full of books and thought better of it. He looked at the stack in order to see if he could find out what she was reading, but the books were too jumbled in the pile for him to see any titles. "So... what were you going to read anyway? Anything interesting? Wait what am I saying I always think books are interesting" he said with a small grin on his face as he scratched the back of his neck nervously.

It was hard to fathom that this was the first time that anyone had done this sort of thing for Dawn. This type of thing she only thought happened in those fairy tales that she had always been told as a child, it was hard to fathom that this sort of thing was happening to her right now. It was like she was reading line for line a story of boy saves girl from bullies in the classic tale of Boy Beats The Guy, not the most creative of names of stories, but this was Dawns head that was creating the tale as it unfurled and anything was possible at this point when it comes to these matters. Her mother’s always told her that she had such a vivid imagination and sometimes it was too much for people to even try and understand what was going through the tiny head of hers. It was probably the reason behind why she had so few people that could accept her, just because she was the tiniest of an oddity. But for a complete stranger to come to her aid, Dawn couldn’t be more than enthused.
She found it greatly entertaining to see the boys so dishearten by the fact that someone had stepped into their fun. They rarely didn’t get their way and it was a great treat to see them, like they were dogs and they had just been punished, their figurative tails between their legs. It was hard to ignore the bane of anger that was coming from the savior’s mouth. To her he almost roared like a protective lion, saving his females from the onsite of a new male prancing within their numbers to steal the herd. She almost would believe his patronus was a lion just by seeing how he was like. Dawn half wanted to leap at him and kiss him right on the cheek for his heroism. She hated being called a Mud-Blood, it always made her feel dirty, like she was some type of disease, and didn’t belong, it was bad enough she was a seer and had two mothers for parents, didn’t need to add a new deformity to the only place she felt almost fully accepted for the gifts that she had. Though as the boy called out to the others, he claimed that they would live to regret it. She appreciated it, but he didn’t need to get so defensive for her accord. Dawn appreciated it, but hated when people did things for her, she lived in a very topsy-turvy world.
She looked at him smiling shyly. ”Well they get away with it all the time.”
she looked around instinctively. ”As for them being gone, I suppose, they’ll be back.” Dawn told him softly, looking down at the ground. It was almost embarrassing to be seen like the weakest link, the one that needed to be saved or someone to stand up for. It was one of the reasons why she rarely told anyone about the bullies that would corner her. Now it wasn’t a topic that she could hide from, not when someone had come to her and witnessed it. He didn’t even seem fuming any longer, now that the group was gone; it seemed to have vanished as quicklyas they did. When he asked if she was injured Dawn shook her head. ”No, they just hit my books on the ground. They generally just push and shove.” she rolled her shoulders into a shrug. Dawn didn’t do well with strangers, even if he just showed her a world of kindness, she was shy, it was a personality trait that she couldn’t get rid of. The boy introduced himself, his name was Emmett. ”You are hardly rude.” she paused. ”Probably the most unselfish person I have ever met.” He had saved her from bullies; he was by far the kindness soul she had run into. Emmett asked what she was going to read, she looked down at the books, and he was rambling about how he found books interesting, he must be a Ravenclaw. ”Oh just some books on seer’s.” she rarely openly admit to anyone of her abilities, if he was to ask why, Dawn was positive that she could come up with some reason to eclectic taste of books. ”how about you? Come to the library often and save damsels in distress?” Dawn asked smiling. [/blockquote][/blockquote] - tagged : cohen played by liv

Things will never be the same All hostility just seemed completely gone from him now that the bullies were nowhere to be seen and once more he seemed nowhere close to menacing. In fact if anything he seemed calm, maybe a little shy, and he was shifting his weight slightly. He couldn't help it, his body still generally ached from the treatment it had gotten over the summer and standing still, especially considering he had been walking stairs not too long ago. He did however keep smiling at her, after all he wouldn't want her asking a bunch of questions all of a sudden, now would he? He smiled a little as she said she was looking into books about seers to him it was the most natural thing in the world to look up books about any topic so it didn't dawn on him that maybe there was a reason beyond being interested that had her looking for it.
He ignored the comments about the bullies being back simply because the thought of that made him far too furious to even function correctly. He hated the thought of anyone even remotely bullying her again and now that he had a chance to look at her properly in a more calm manner it occurred to him just how pretty she looked. In fact she was absolutely gorgeous which made him a little nervous. However how could he possibly act all fiddly all of a sudden when he'd just stepped in between her and her bullies? He shifted his weight again and laughed a little as she asked if he came to the library to save damsels in distress often, but he immediately regretted the laugh as it sent a massive wave of pain through his body which he had to fight in order not to show a grimace of on his face. He REALLY didn't want her asking questions about that just about now.
"Nah I can't say I come here to save damsels in distress very often, in fact the more common reason I come here would be to read a book on some topic or another and to find some stuff I haven't already read. Or even just to do homework but usually I don't have to come up here for that, because I can always just use the material we learn in class after all. I only come here for that if I want to add some extra work into it and show the teachers that I actually care to learn more about the topic at hand than just what they're telling us in class" he rambled a little. After all he tended to get nervous around pretty girls, especially around those veela and half veela walking around the school. For some reason though he was more nervous around Dawn right now than he'd ever been around any of them. She was stunning, and her voice was so soft and compelling. There was just something about her that struck him as gorgeous even though he couldn't quite put his finger on what it was exactly.
He glanced at the books she'd just picked up, a little grateful he hadn't been required to help her since bending down just hurt like hell. He was wondering if she'd found anything of interest, but then again she seemed to have just picked them off the shelves. "Are you looking for anything specific in those books? Maybe I could help you do some research if you want, seers are fascinating to me, I never quite understand how it works, which being the Ravenclaw I am I of course find anything I don't understand to be terribly interesting. I just can't help it" He rambled on trying to find a reason to stay which wasn't simply the fact that she was gorgeous and he just wanted to get to know her better. Now that he had calmed down a little he realized just how lucky he'd been that none of those bullies really wanted to fight. If even one of them had gotten in a good hit he knew he'd have crumbled on the floor within an instant. His body of course had not nearly recovered enough from the summer to even begin being ready to fight someone.

If Dawn was a normal girl she would have hugged the boy fiercely. Then again she had never been normal and randomly hugging someone wasn’t her style, there was many different ways a person could take a hug and some of those ways could in fact be negative, and Dawn didn’t like to play with statistics any more than she already did. No instead she would just continue to smile her appreciation, if there was one thing her mother had taught her, smiling will never go unnoticed by a pretty girl. Not that Dawn rarely thought of herself in such positive ways when it came to being attractive, she had nice features, like brown hair and blue eyes, and yellow contrasted well enough when she was in her school robes, so that’s all she had ever really worried about. She had enough fashion sense thanks to Alice and enough brain thanks to her other mother Margerie, for all that Dawn knew she was set for life when it came to most situations, aside from boys, neither of her parents had really mentioned them aside from her birth father was a prat and guys are all prat’s, but what would they know they were only interested in females now, and Dawn, wasn’t at all aside from friendships.
Being invisible would have been nice to happen right now. It was always better when people didn’t take interest in her, they didn’t pay attention to her, or ask stupid questions like who they were going to fall in love with. She appreciated the save, but would very much enjoy to melt away, the boy was cute enough that Dawn would start to stutter profusely. Even if she stuttered the boy seemed to be a bit of a talker, going on about how he only came to the library for books and such, that was much expected, it was why it was a library and not a empty classroom, it was kind of cute, not many people spoke that many sentences around her. ”You’re a Ravenclaw aren’t you?”
Dawn asked. ”Because from that explanation it sounds like you spend a lot of time in here and I’m a silly girl who doesn’t know any better and stick with the stereotypical ideologies of the houses.” Sad but true, she generally placed labels on the other houses, but rarely found that they always applied to the students within their house, it just helped because it was generally fairly right when it came to them. Most who were smart asses would just be like ‘why don’t you look into the future and find out’ that is the ones that knew she was a seer which were a few random people who had noticed her acting strange-er than normal. Then he started to go on about the books. Of course he would want to suggest book types, but that required her to explain her interest in them. Why couldn’t she just say she had an eclectic taste in books and just tell him she wasn’t looking for any specific. In truth she was looking for many specific topics when it came to Seers. If there was anyone who knew things about books it would have to be Emmett, he seemed so well read when it came to book topics so what harm would it come to asking him? It wasn’t like half of the school didn’t already know her badly guarded secret, the person who saved her might as well know too. She continued to think over telling him as he went on into a more ambled rambling about learning. Dawn’s eyes lingered down to the books in her arms. ”Well.” she started, thinking carefully. ”I sort of have a connection with seers.” Dawn paused looking back up at Emmett. ”Because I’m one.” she was being flighty in her sentences. ”Granted I’m not very good at predictions, just trying to get a handle on them, they’re kind of annoying.” Dawn grumbled. ”My mum she’s a seer, so that’s how I got the inner eye ability from her even if she’s a muggle, and she’s not very good, mostly crystal balls and scrying crystals and such, never anything like what I experience and I was hoping.” she lifted the books up a bit. ”Some of these would be helpful.” [/blockquote][/blockquote] - tagged : cohen played by liv

Things will never be the same The more the thought about it the more beautiful he realized this girl was. And of course the more he noticed that the more nervous he got. After all it wasn't every day that he had the chance to talk to someone so beautiful. Even more so it was someone he hadn't talked to before. Oh he wasn't that shy, well at least not on the outside but truth be told he was a highly insecure person. His self esteem seemed to fail massively and he wasn't sure how to deal with it when people said something good about him. Not that this happened often, well sometimes his friends would of course but what he was most used to hearing was how useless, ugly and worth nothing. Oh yes he had the best parents a person could have, only well not really. He hated his parents but at the same time there had been little he could do about it before now.
He had decided though that he wasn't going back home after this year. Honestly he had no idea where he was supposed to go but he would rather live on the streets than go back there, not now that he'd be of age and would be able to make the decision that he wouldn't want to go back. His mind wandered to that for a moment, it was difficult not to worry about the future these days but even so, he felt relief even if he had no idea where he'd go or what he'd do. He ran a hand through his hair nervously and smiled when she asked if he was a Ravenclaw. Sure it may be a stereotype but after all when it came to Emmett it was a true stereotype and he knew it. He was found most of the time with his nose in a book, well that was when he wasn't having Quidditch practice. "Oh don't worry about thinking it's a stereotype it pretty much fits me anyway. I can pretty much always be found with a book in my hands, well when I'm not out playing Quidditch that is. I absolutely adore Quidditch and I'd probably say that aside from reading it's the one thing I really like doing. I mean maybe also one of the few things I'm really good at" he said before realizing he was rambling again, and once more running a hand through his hair.
He listened as she talked about being a seer and noticed that she seemed a little nervous about telling him. Sure he himself wasn't very good with anything that couldn't be completely explained by a book, but that didn't mean he didn't think being a seer was a fascinating subject. He had always thought it must be invading though to be one, and she seemed to confirm that at least she thought it was as she kept going. A warm, and true smile spread across his face as she seemed to finish talking, she seemed nervous. Maybe she worried he wouldn't approve or that he'd think it weird? Well he didn't. Oh he didn't understand how it worked and it was a bit foreign to him but that didn't mean he was going to look at her any differently. "Well I have to admit I don't really know much about the topic but if you let me know what we're looking for I can help you look it up? I'm pretty good at looking stuff up. Also honestly I think it's kinda cool, though it must be frustrating at times huh? Especially if you're not really in control over it. I can't say I envy you the ability, but I still think it's kind of awesome"
He smiled at her some more and it was clear he'd really meant every word he'd just said. He didn't look at her differently he just thought that maybe she was a bit unlucky actually. Emmett wasn't one to judge though, he was after all not exactly the average student himself what with his past and all, so he could sort of understand where she was coming from. Oh sure it couldn't be compared really especially since very few people knew about his issues at home, but that didn't mean he couldn't feel sympathy for her for having something about her that was different. Something that other people had a hard time understanding. It was the same for him, even if he told someone about his parents and the way things were at home he was pretty sure not very many people would understand. People would likely tell him to go report his parents but there was one issue with that... They were still his parents regardless of what they did to him and they were the only parents he'd ever known. Sure they had never taken good care of him and they'd abused him a lot but part of him still felt like he had no right reporting them. They were his parents, his family, wasn't family supposed to stick together? Ugh it was all very problematic, but he tried pushing it away as he started leading them towards one of the free tables in the library so they could start looking through the books she'd already found.

How did she end up in these sort of situations? It was a constant battle of finding herself into weird situations, sure she couldn’t say that she had people come and help her that often, but it was just another one of those days. Dawn was particularly interested to know why he was even helping, she was a very skeptical person, there were few events that went on when there wasn’t a motive, Dawn knew that it was likely it just happened, but her mother was very much into fate making Dawn a believer in it as well. Whatever the reasons Dawn was more than ecstatic that this strapping lad had come to her rescue. It was a nice feeling not to have to peer over her shoulder or worry over someone coming to throw her things about or call her names, it was never a fun experience, she only knew that for as long as Dawn knew this new boy, she owed him a lot.
Dawn seemed to be in a learning stage, there were few males that she spent time with, only one of which was a strange boy by the name of Tucker. She generally would stay to herself and only socialize with a few close females. Males just made her uncomfortable. With this boy, it was easy to get into an ease state of mind, he had saved her, there was little worry when it came to this new comer. The most that she could read from the boy was that he was very skilled at speaking. It was the nervous kind like he didn’t quite know what o say, maybe he was lacking in human interactions like she was? Dawn could tell from the way that he was acting, running a hand through his hair and the constant spew of words erupting from his mouth, she couldn’t blame him, Dawn didn’t do well with people either. She gave him a assuring smile, she’d have even reached out and touch his shoulder or arm if her own hands weren’t full of books.
”Well, I’m a Hufflepuff and I fit the generic stereotype for them.”
she paused mulling over his speech. ”You play Quidditch? What position?” Dawn never had an aptitude for Quidditch, but she went to every game, Dawn had tried flying in her first year and quickly decided that she was better off on the ground. She couldn’t quite remember ever seeing Emmett out on the field, but she wasn’t great at names or even of players on a different team than her own house. She wasn’t surprised when he told her that he didn’t know much about seers, it wasn’t that uncommon for people to not really understand it. It was a bit of a disappointment, she had hoped that she could have found just one person that she could talk to about her ability that wasn’t her mother. It was a rare ability, in time she could find someone or even get a better handle on it herself. ”Believe me, you’re not the first person that has told me they don’t know a thing about seer’s.” she assured him, smiling lightly. ”Frustrating is the word I use all the time. Also if you envied me for it, I’d have to flick your nose.” It was a common occurrence that she found people who wanted to be able to see into the future, see events before they even happen. They rarely thought of the implications or what exactly they could be seeing. It was a constant struggle trying to find the information that was important and the ones that simply didn’t mean anything, Dawn was in a constant worry over the events that she saw even if she didn’t know the person, it was even worst when they didn’t come to her full, only pieces of a event that could prove to be worth something to someone else. Being dragged into other’s lives was anything, but helpful. If anything all it did for her was give her headaches. She doubted Emmett could handle the events happening in his head, few were made to be capable of being a seer, so long as she didn’t witness any important prophecies and just continue with the bustle of the occasional minor teenage events. Carefully she settled the books down onto one of the library desks. ”You don’t really have to help you know.” Dawn told him, looking over at Emmett as she pushed her hair out of her face. She didn’t want to be alone, it was just something that she was used to, and he didn’t have to stay around simply because he felt bad for her. ”You’ve done a lot more than a majority of people have done for me, Sir Emmett of Ravenclaw.” Dawn explained to him earnestly smiling widely as she leaned against the side of the desk watching him. She already knew she was peculiar, might as well set it in stone and make sure that Emmett knew that. [/blockquote][/blockquote] - tagged : cohen played by liv

Things will never be the same He lit up a little as she decided to ask about Quidditch, he loved that game with a passion and it was one of the things he knew he was truly good at. The one thing he had in his life that he felt he could actually be a little proud of was his abilities on a broom on the Quidditch pitch. "Oh I'm the seeker on the team and the captain actually" he said and despite him being proud of it he made it sound kind of like he wasn't thinking it was such a major deal, though his love for the game shone through brightly on his face as he thought about it. "I love Quidditch! It's just one of those things you know? Where you feel like you actually belong doing what you're doing? At least for me it's always been like that. It's the best game ever if you ask me and I hadn't even used a broom before I came here. It was one of those things where you almost instantly feel like you know what you're doing. Instinct in a way I guess?" he rambled a little but Quidditch really just was his passion in life, his arena sort of speak.
He nodded a little as she confirmed his suspicions on the fact that being a seer and having not a lot of control over it would be more than just a little frustrating, after all he knew how not having control over certain things in your life could be a pain. He himself had never really had much control of his life at least not outside of Hogwarts and sometimes he even believed that he had no control of whether or not he got to live to see another day. At least he'd thought so after the treatment his parents had given him right before he was going back to school. He was very glad this was going to be his last year here at Hogwarts and that he'd be considered of age when it was done because there was no way in hell he would have survived another summer at home. Things just seemed to be getting progressively worse each year back home and he had almost thought that he wouldn't make it through it this year. He was so relieved to be back here that he almost wanted to leap with joy, if it wasn't of course for the fact that leaping with joy would hurt like hell right now.
Suddenly he realized he'd been spacing out after she'd finished talking about how frustrating it was and smiled apologetically at her. "Yeah I can imagine how it would be fairly frustrating to not be able to control things like that. I bet you sometimes see things you wish you hadn't right? I mean, no you don't have to answer that if you don't want to. It was a rude question. But I'm sure we can find something somewhere in these books to help at least a little." he said, feeling like he'd already said way too much and completely the wrong things. Sure he was often pretty social among his housemates, especially the Quidditch team, but at the same time he often felt stupid for the things he chose to say, especially in situations involving a gorgeous girl like Dawn, not that he really had found very many girls around the school to spark an interest but Dawn was just absolutely and totally gorgeous and it made him more and more nervous he'd say the wrong thing as time passed.
He smiled and shook his head as she said he didn't have to help her. "Well I know I don't have to, but unless you don't want me to I'd still like to help you out. I have nothing else I need to be doing right now anyway. I can find the book I was looking for later, it's not something I need to rush anyway." he said honestly and shifted his weight a little trying to make himself a bit more comfortable, but with not much luck. He hadn't expected to get better right now anyway. In fact he was more or less expecting to be excessively uncomfortable for the next few weeks at the very least if not longer. He blushed a little at the comment that he'd already done more than enough and couldn't help but to chuckle as she called him Sir. She was so funny, in a way that at least to him was just completely adorable. Some might find her strange but he just thought it was amazing how she managed to say these cute things. "Unless... of course you'd rather want me not to help? I mean I wouldn't want to intrude if you didn't want me around of course" he added as he leaned on the back of the chair slightly, watching to see her reaction, hoping she'd let him stay and help.

The boy seemed to have changed; now he wasn’t focused completely on worrying over the bullies. His interests were on Quidditch. There was hardly a surprise to her, Quidditch was one of those games that you could always get someone’s attention with, and it was just luck that it had been the subject that caught Emmett’s interest. Dawn didn’t particularly understand the grand dynamics when it came to the game, she just knew that she went to every game and cheered on the Hufflepuff players as they flew around chasing balls. It was probably from her lack of ability to play sports that made it so she had no true interests in sports, but Dawn was capable of having a conversation on the sport. ”Oh the seeker and the captain? I bet that keeps you busy!”
Dawn exclaimed with a small smile. She knew that the seeker was one of the most important players on the team; as soon as the snitch was caught the game was over. The captain had to be equally important they were the ones that organized their teams and practiced trying to make them the best, it sounded like Emmett was known to being quite responsible if not dependable. He seemed quite comfortable talking about the sport, Dawn nodded her head in agreement to the majority of his statements to remain polite even if she didn’t really have a clear notion in what he was talking about. ”So you think that you may go play professionally after school?” Dawn asked him, it seemed that he had so much love for the game that it would have been a place for him to go, if Dawn was inept in the game she would have considered the occupation herself. Though she had no clue what she was going to do after school, others had more clear luck with that sort of thing. She lowered her eyes as he talked about her being a seer and how she might see things that she wish that she hadn’t. It was a constant feeling of an invasion of privacy; she was constantly fretting over people who she didn’t even know their name. Dawn was always at a battle against herself. Sometimes it happened in class the breeze of something that would happen to a class-mate or a teacher, other times it happened in her sleep and she would be woken up with terrible thoughts and visions. These always lingered, they never just went away until Dawn would try and do something about it, until she felt better about herself that she had tried to change something that Dawn could make a difference in someone else’s fate. Though Emmett had claimed that he knew nothing about being a seer, he seemed to hit the more dynamic parts of herself, the parts of her power and her ability that really made it a challenge. Dawn had to respect him for his insight; it had to be a complete and utter guess on his part. ”You really have no idea.” she laughed lightly as she gave him a sidelong glance with a small smile. ”It’s far more complicated than simply seeing things, you see events of people you don’t even know or have never even seen, and they sit in your head more vividly than what you would see from your own eyes.” Dawn explained she rarely went a day when she didn’t explain these events to some of her friends, the ones who were far more curious. Seeing as she was talking to him for academic sake Dawn didn’t mind speaking to him about it. ”I didn’t mean it like that, I’m just used to people rushing in to do something then quickly rushing out to get away. That and I don’t like to make people feel like their obligated to do anything for me. If you want to, you can stay, I don’t mind the help, besides two are better than one.” Dawn explained placing an assuring hand on his arm. She was so used to people avoiding her or picking on her, it wasn’t that often that people would come to her. It seemed to her that Emmett seemed so sincere in wanting to help her. Gently she pulled out herself a chair that was in front of her and slid into the seat, one of her legs in the seat as she sat on it and the other over the edge this was her comfortable sitting position if she had been on the floor she’d be laying on her stomach or sitting Indian style. She peered up at him waiting for him to take his own seat. Grabbing one of the books off the stack that she had gathered and settled it in the open spot next to her seat, where she hoped that he would sit and join her. ”The help is appreciated, really it is. I don’t have that many people willing to even try.” [/blockquote][/blockquote] - tagged : cohen played by liv

Things will never be the same As she mentioned the question about whether or not he wanted to play Quidditch professionally once school was over his mind started wandering. If there was something he'd really love it would have been to do that. Either that or something that has to do with art, but he wasn't sure if his art skills were good enough, his Quidditch skills sure as hell seemed to be enough though, he did a decent job and he always seemed to do well in matches even though they didn't always win, but it wasn't just a matter of being good as a single player it was a matter of team work and he knew very well that the match depended on all the players even if the game usually ended with whoever caught the snitch winning, it wasn't always so, and if it wasn't for the beaters and other players he wouldn't be able to focus on the snitch anyway. He realized he was lost in thought and sent her an apologetic smile. "I think playing Quidditch for a living after school would be awesome but I'm not entirely sure if I'm good enough or if I'll get the chance, but if not maybe I'd like to do something with art. We'll see I guess. I don't have to think about it just yet after all"
Smiling warmly he ran a hand through his hair as she explained about the visions and he gave it some thought before speaking because there was clearly a lot of things about being a seer that to him seemed more unpleasant than anything. "This sounds pretty unpleasant actually. I have to admit I'm glad I don't have to see things about people I don't know, it's enough to just see things happening to the people you do know, even without knowing how or why it's happening. I wouldn't want to see things before they happened, especially not if they're unpleasant things? Because I'm sure people wouldn't be overly pleased to be told stuff is going to happen to them all randomly. Must be hard to know something might and not be able to help stop it huh?" he asked, trying his best to understand her. She seemed so nice, though he'd seen her around before and he'd heard people say she was a bit strange. He supposed he knew why they thought so now, but he didn't think her strange only fascinating more than anything else.
He froze a little as she touched his arm, trying hard not to twitch away, he wasn't very comfortable with people touching him, especially people he'd just met, it just came with the past he'd had. But he nodded a little non the less as she said people usually just rushed out of the library the second they'd done what they needed. "Well I may not completely fit the stereotypical Ravenclaw but I do in the sense that I actually pretty much like the library and don't mind spending a lot of time here even when there isn't something I need to do. I like the smell of books, old and new it's kinda soothing" he commented with another small smile though he was relieved when she let go of his arm to to take a seat and he did the same not long after she was done. He tried hard not to wince as he sat down and closed his eyes for a moment as pain washed over him. His entire body was bruised and battered including more private parts and sitting on the hard wooden chair wasn't very comfortable at all but he tried his best to ignore it.
"Well I don't see why you've not, you seem really nice to me and I think you've been good company so far. So if you're sure you want me to I'd love to help you out" he muttered as he opened one of the books looking through the first few pages then flipping through. "you were looking for something to help you control the powers right? I just want to make sure I'm looking for the right thing" he smiled at her as he looked up from the book. He was sure there had to be something that might help in the library somewhere, after all there were other seers around and they must have some tips as to how best to deal with it right? All he knew was that he'd do all he could to help her out.

The day had started out so poorly, yet the moment this boy had appeared into her life it seemed to progressively have gotten better. Not only did she finally have someone that had stood up for her and Dawn had someone to talk to. She wasn’t even going to think over the fact that he was a male and he was somewhat attractive, Dawn tried not to think of that around anyone, because if she found someone attractive and noted it she would grow more and more nervous and shy retracting into her shell. Dawn didn’t like when she did that, she was better off with being around people and chatting with people, so until then, this boy was merely a boy, a very helpful one that Dawn was greatly appreciative towards. Besides their conversations were so innocent there was no way that Dawn could really think beyond of him being a great friend, that is if he turns out to become one, from what Dawn was seeing now they would get along fairly well for quite some time, so long as they had something to talk about. Which right now Quidditch was a safe topic, one that Dawn knew somewhat well enough mostly because she went to the games and it seemed almost mandatory for you to understand it if you go to Hogwarts.
”Well , my mom always told me do what you’re good at, I mean it’s the easiest saying to follow what to do with your life. You stick with what you know. If your good at Quidditch and you don’t know else what you’d want to do, playing it for a living is a good start.”
Dawn insisted. She sometimes was too thoughtful and insightful for people to really get a grasp on her, but today she wasn’t going to hold back simply because he was a new face, Dawn was Dawn no matter whom she was talking to. Either way she thought it was helpful anyways, so she was sure that he was going to appreciate it, if not well he wouldn’t be the first person to think otherwise. Though she did see visions not all of them were bad, there were several that were good, some that gave overwhelming joy, though she always focused on the bad, because rarely were the good visions so memorable that they sink within her mind. ”Well they’re not all bad, there is quite an even number of good and bad that I see, it’s just you remember the bad over the good. It’s just how your brain works. I dunno, just I feel like they linger longer than a general memory, like I’ll remember buddy falling down a flight of stairs, over rose getting a outstanding on her paper.”[/ b] not some of her better examples but really Dawn couldn’t think of any current visions that she had seen within the last few days. Not that it bothered her, the less that she saw the less that she had to worry about. ”Stopping things aren’t part of the job description. We’re taught, or at least I had been, not to meddle in the time line, because it’s going to happen whether I want it to or not.” Dawn explained.
She dropped her arm the air of a smile still on her lips. Dawn was easily content, if today was going to continue to be just as good as it was currently then Dawn was going to be a happy girl. ”Yeah, I can’t stay in here too long, I like being out and around in the castle, and outside up until winter comes along. Though I can understand the smell of the books, it’s a nice scent, not my absolute favorite, mine is honeysuckle, but books are quite lovely.” sure she wasn’t a Ravenclaw but Dawn could appreciate books and she loved reading when she had the time to do so in between her aimless wandering and deciphering over the visions that she see’s on a daily basis. There was little time for her to spend with school going on as well for herself, this was one of the only free times she had to look into Seers in the first place. ”That’s easy, it’s because I’m weird always have been. People are quick to recognize this and they avoid me.” she pleasantly smiled. Dawn was used to it, this had become a part of her time here at Hogwarts since she had come here. She didn’t want to linger on the thought. ”Yes that is exactly what I am looking for, or maybe something that gives tips, I don’t know something helpful is really all I am looking for. I’ve never read anything on accounts of other Seer’s before and I am sure they would be helpful.” she told him with a nod of her head.
